As an employer, you must cancel your helper’s Work Permit if she requests to return home or if she will no longer be working with your family.
Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the Work Permit cancellation process:
Before Cancelling
- Agree on last working day
- Pay outstanding salary & settle all issues
- Ensure your helper's passport validity
- Discuss and arrange a ticket with luggage and transport to the helper hometown
Cancelling the Work Permit
- Log in to FDW eService
- Cancel 1 day before work permit expiry OR within 1 week of last working day
- Departure must be within 2 weeks of cancellation
- Give helper the Special Pass and ensure she shows it with her passport when leaving Singapore
After Cancellation
- Cut the Work Permit card in half and discard to prevent misuse
- Helper cannot work after cancellation (even while waiting for flight)
- Ensure your helper departs before the Special Pass expires to avoid overstaying fines
- Levy stops 1 day before cancellation, and the security bond usually be discharged 1 week after your helper’s departure, and if all conditions are met
